HIGHER egg prices hit the headlines in some leading news sources this week, after the latest inflation figures were released by the Office of National Statistics (ONS).
One story, on the BBC News website, carried the headline Rising egg prices push food inflation to 18-month high.
However, a closer look at the ONS figures showed that eggs actually lagged behind the overall rise in food prices during the year to July.
